Technical Underwriter

We´re looking for a business and service minded talent with great analytical skills and passion for underwriting within our 4 eyes system.

About the role
As a Technical Underwriter at SiriusPoint you will estimate potential risks, evaluate and accept contracts between SiriusPoint and our clients, together with a market underwriter.
The role entails:
• Underwrite and price treaties for a defined geographical area and class of business.
• Manage portfolio considering profitability, risk selection, growth opportunities and state of market.
• Secure quality and consistency in risk evaluation and pricing.
• Use pricing, accumulation and portfolio management systems according to rules and guidelines.
• Thorough estimation of potential losses using results from multiple methods/models.
• Constantly strive to develop the technical risk assessment
• Keep updated on models and tools available (internally and externally).
• Propose adjustments on models that should be used in the underwriting process.
• Work close together with our Business Units and meet clients
• Comply with underwriting guidelines and other desirable processes.
• Participate in projects and support activities on ad hoc basis
• Have response times that satisfy or exceed expectations from internal as well as external clients.

Your profile
We are looking for a person who is analytical and collaborative with a business-minded attitude and a desire to be part of a strong underwriting team. The qualities we are looking for are:
• Experience and knowledge from reinsurance and underwriting
• University degree in statistics and/or mathematics or equivalent
• Good communication skills to be an effective member of an underwriting team.
• Capability of balancing level of accuracy versus time consumption
• Ability to make underwriting decisions based on analyses and provided information
• Ability to explain complex analyses and models in a pedagogic way
• Knowledge and experience of reinsurance pricing
• Knowledge of portfolio and risk management principles.
• Competence and experience to understand and interpret slips and wordings.
• Knowledge about third party tools (AIR and RMS) in terms of usage and underlying methodology.
• Fluent language skills in spoken and written English are required. Ability to speak, write and/or read other languages is an advantage
