Inhouse Legal Counsel Sweden/Finland

As in-house legal counsel, you will support the legal needs of the Willis Towers Watson businesses and the Management team that manages the Willis Towers Watson’s operations in Sweden and Finland. The role covers a stimulating and varied range of legal issues, contentious and non-contentious matters, with and without the assistance of local external counsels.

The role
This role will entail supporting our Management Team in further growing our business in Sweden and Finland by advising them on a broad range of legal matters in order to be compliant with local legislation in Sweden and Finland.

As a legal counsel you will act as a trusted advisor to our management team.

The role will include:
• Understanding legal issues surrounding governance of international consultancy, insurance and (re)insurance brokers’ products
• Reviewing and advising on legal developments surrounding international consultancy, insurance and (re)insurance and broking
• Advising on legal issues in Sweden and Finland as they apply to brokers’ duties and obligations
• Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements relating to the provision of consultancy, broking and agency services
• Providing general guidance to business operations on legal issues arising out of the provision of consultancy, broking or agency services
• Working closely with the Compliance Function on a regional level on regulatory issues connected to the above
• Managing and resolving contentious claims against brokers and consultancy services providers
• Acting as Complaints Manager and Data Protection Officer
• Reporting to and managing relationships with professional indemnity insurers and senior management;

The role reports into the Office of the General Counsel in the Western Europe Region with a matrix reporting line into the COO for Sweden/Finland.

The Requirements
• Strong academic qualifications and at least 5 years’ experience either in-house in an insurance environment or with a specialist (re)insurance law firm.Practical relevant 
• Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in teams, including remotely with clients and colleagues in other countries.
• Project management skills will be a plus
• An attention to detail in the delivery of results and a proactive approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
• An ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders in country and on a regional/global level 
• Strong communication skills in English and Swedish. Finnish would be helpful but not a pre-requisite.
